SNUBBER CAPACITORS

Product Information:

These capacitors have been developed to provide extremely low inductance for both AC and DC thyristors, GTO’s and IGBT’s. Snubber designs also exist for special high power IGCT’s. They are capable of meeting very high rise time circuits and extreme current and voltage peaks.

The capacitors are robustly constructed using high quality self-healing dielectric systems in which foil electrodes are incorporated and encapsulated in a flame retardant epoxy resin. Sturdy M6 or M8 axial connections are provided.

Applications:

The advanced dielectric systems of these designs allow the efficient operation of thyristor bridges, for both AC and DC duty, active front end rectifiers, GTO and IGCT based inverters and high power IGBT applications. Designs are available from very low values of capacitance, notably 0.25 µF and up to voltages of 7.2kV(UN). They provide excellent self-healing properties ensuring a long service life, especially in the traction market and for static drives.
