Introduction IGBTs require capacitors with extremely low inductance for efficient operation. NCL has designed a range of these capacitors using state of the art metallised dielectric systems, based on design criteria as featured in our DC filter range. Being aware of the space constraints of these applications, care has been taken during the design phase to optimise both weight and volume from the outset. Application NCL IGBT filter capacitors are designed for a wide range of applications, embracing tramcars, trolley buses, metro systems, light rail and railways in which converters, choppers and inverter drives are required. They are specifically designed with low inductance properties to accommodate the needs of these devices. |
Technology The same design criteria as the standard filtering capacitors are used for this range. For lower voltages, capacitors are dry construction and encapsulated in flame resistant epoxy resin. At higher voltages they are impregnated in a stable, biodegradable oil. Containers and Terminations These capacitors can be supplied in insulated boxes, alternatively in aluminium, mild steel or stainless steel containers. Low profile synthetic moulded terminals or copper strip line connections are available to suit each application. |

Characteristics NCL has manufactured many different styles of IGBT capacitors, all of which have been tailored to meet the exact electrical and mechanical requirements requested by our customers. Because this range is so diverse, NCL has refrained from tabulating a range of ratings and sizes, and provides the following details to indicate the limits of our design capabilities. NCL would be pleased to consider your requirements upon request.
